Why this practice added shockwave

Cameron runs The Performance Lab, a sports medicine practice that has been using shockwave for 6 years. We asked what changed, both clinically, and on the balance sheet.

The interview

Q01

How long until you saw ROI?

Honestly, almost immediately. Within the first month I was consistently finding patients who were ideal candidates for shockwave, and because of the outcomes they experienced, referrals started coming in as well. It quickly became one of the most valuable tools in my practice, both clinically and from a business standpoint. My shockwave unit got my foot in the door with a lot of MLB athletes early in my career.

Q02

What areas do you use shockwave in most?

I primarily use focused and radial shockwave for chronic tendinopathies, shoulder and knee injuries, and stubborn pain that hasn’t responded well to traditional treatment. The most common conditions I treat include patellar tendinopathy, Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, lateral epicondylitis, rotator cuff tendinopathy, meniscus issues, and SLAP lesions. Working with athletes, it’s also become a go-to treatment to help accelerate return-to-play while keeping patients active throughout rehab.

Q03

How did shockwave impact your patient’s care?

Shockwave completely changed the way I manage chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Instead of simply reducing pain temporarily, I can address the underlying tissue dysfunction while combining it with progressive rehabilitation. Patients often notice improvements much sooner than they expected, especially those who have already tried injections, physical therapy, or other conservative treatments without success. It has become one of the cornerstones of my treatment approach because it allows me to keep patients moving while helping them recover more efficiently.

Q04

How did shockwave impact your practice?

It differentiated my practice from others in the area. Patients actively sought us out because we offered shockwave alongside comprehensive rehabilitation instead of relying on passive treatments alone. It also increased patient retention because people were seeing meaningful progress and completing their treatment plans. As referrals from physicians, therapists, and former patients increased, shockwave became an important part of both our clinical success and practice growth.

Q05

What Kinas Medical resources did you use?

One of the biggest reasons I chose Kinas Medical was the level of support after purchasing the equipment. I’ve utilized the clinical training, webinars, and ongoing customer support whenever questions have come up. Their team has always been responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping clinicians become better providers. That level of education and accessibility has been invaluable.

Q06

Would you recommend Kinas Medical to a colleague?

Absolutely. There are plenty of companies that sell shockwave devices, but very few invest in the clinician after the sale. Kinas provides excellent equipment backed by outstanding education, responsive customer service, and a team that’s passionate about helping providers get the best outcomes possible. If you’re serious about incorporating shockwave into your practice, having a company that continues to support you long after the purchase makes all the difference. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to any healthcare professional looking to elevate their patient care.
